What is it?
“A couch from West Elm The original fabric was a textured weave that didn't age well. It started to pill constantly and just looked pretty shabby in general. I think the fabric is just the type to pill because of the weave…”

How’d you repair it?
“I watched a YouTube video, which is pretty much how I learn how to sew anything. It took me a while to decide if I could pull off upholstering a couch with my limited skill set. I went with an ecru-colored chenille and ordered about 9 yards. The measuring and cutting of the pieces was the most tedious part but once I had all of the pieces ready, I was able to make all 4 cushions in a weekend and then I did the frame of the couch later. Overall, it probably took about 10-12 hours and about $200 between the fabric and zippers.”

Why was it worth it?
“We live in an apartment that isn't our "forever home" and I didn't want to invest in a new couch until we move. The off-white color was potentially a dangerous choice with 2 little kids but at least I know I can always redo it :)”
